Workplace Application:
Attendees will learn key employment law changes in the Golden State since 2020 so you can reduce the organization’s legal risk and maximize employee engagement.

Keeping up to date with new California employment laws is always a challenge.  This program highlights key employment law changes in the Golden State since 2020, including laws prohibiting mandatory arbitration, expanding application of California leave to small employers, creating leave entitlement for grandparents, siblings and parent-in-laws, increasing lactation accommodation obligations, banning hairstyle discrimination and implementing a strict A-B-C test to determine independent contractor status.  If you have California employees, this program will make sure you know what’s new in the post-COVID-19 workplace.  You will also learn tips on documenting California personnel actions so you can defend employee claims in litigation.

Learning Objectives:

  • How to comply with new California employment law rules so you can effectively manage employees, reduce organization litigation risk and maximize employee engagement.
  • How multi-state employers can use ethical practice in determining how to comply with new California employment law rules which may conflict with and/or significantly expand employee rights in state other than California.
  • How to audit the company's compliance with new California employment law rules while utilizing the attorney-client privilege, ensuring legal compliance and mitigating risk.
