Workplace Application:
Attendees will learn the human resources and employment law implications of the pandemic-driven tectonic shift from the traditional office to the hybrid workplace

COVID-19 has changed the workplace as we know it. Experts widely argue that we’ve fast-forwarded in the direction of working remotely by decades. But what exactly does this mean? Is the future of work primarily virtual, and if so, what challenges does this entail? What is the new role of the physical workspace? As business leaders collectively answer these questions, this presentation explores the most likely future of work--the “hybrid workplace"--in which more employees work from home more of the time. We will focus on the novel questions and challenges this raises for human resources professionals, employment attorneys, and the business leaders they advise.

Learning Objectives:

  • Explore the research about the benefits of working from home.
  • Consider the research regarding the drawbacks of the remote office.
  • Analyze the respective research to understand why the hybrid workplace is our likely future.
  • Examine the myriad employment law implications of having a decentralized remote workforce.
