Women in Leadership: Modeling the Change that Will Create a New Way Forward
Monterey Ballroom

America’s reputation for innovation and creativity is second to none on the world stage. The fact that over 50% of medical school and law school graduates are female bodes well for the amazing talent source that women represent in our nation’s future. But we’re not there yet—not by a long shot. Gender pay disparity, discrimination and harassment, and leaving the workforce early (typically after childbirth), combined with lack of promotional opportunities to the C-level and being “benevolently paternalized,” leave female members of the U.S. workforce lacking. There are real implications of ethical challenges and lost business opportunities in terms of women’s voices being critically underrepresented at the board and senior executive levels as well as at more junior levels. Join us to explore:

• Steps to consider in influencing current workplace policies and practices to create greater levels of female engagement, participation, and opportunity
• Training and leadership development opportunities for female staff members who may feel “stuck in the middle” career-wise or otherwise treading water professionally
• Creative approaches to countering the natural resistance to change in the status quo and the inertia that holds back meaningful transformation

As we begin to exit the pandemic and reinvent the workplace, the timing couldn’t be greater to propel this initiative at the board level, in the breakroom, and at the kitchen table. If not now, when? If not HR, who? And the “how” of it all will be our topic of focus for this session!
