Debi S. Saini, Ph.D., GPHR, is a Professor & Chairperson of HRM area at Management Development Institute (MDI), Gurgaon, India. He is also a Visiting Professor at Aarhus School of Business, Denmark; IAE Aix Graduate School of Management, Marseille, France; and SPJ Centre of Management, Dubai (UAE). His interest areas include: Strategic HRM; New Industrial Relations; Global HRM, and Employment Law. He has authored or edited seven books; and has published 77 research papers/book chapters/management cases in these areas. Two of his management cases are being sold by Harvard Business School online and European Case Clearing. He is editor of Vision—The Journal of Business Perspective. He has done consulting assignments for the ILO; GTZ (Germany); and SHRM. He has been an invited plenary speaker at several international forums, including in USA, UK, Mexico, Germany, Canada, Italy, Nepal and Taiwan. Dr. Saini received “The Best Researcher of MDI Award for 2005” from MDI; and “Best HR Faculty in India Award” from Amity University, NOIDA, India in 2007.

He comes from a background in education, having taught English and Theater to high school students in both inner-city and suburban schools. He has also worked with adults learning English at the Lehmann Center in Minneapolis, as well as in a variety of after-school programs serving academically struggling students. A certified Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI) Administrator, his training work has centered on issues of diversity, with a special focus on managing across differences. He has authored articles for diversity-centered websites and newsletters, including co-authoring a manager’s toolkit for dealing with religious diversity in the workplace and a half-day workshop on both leading and working across generational difference.
