This session will focus on understanding microaggressions through the lens of identity-based trauma and its impact on the receiver. We will explore the latest trauma research to understand better the psychological effects of microaggressions on the receiver, as well as the psychology of the sender. Specifically, we will examine four patterns of perception that unintentionally create harmful behavior and how to identify and address them. By the end of the session, participants will have a new understanding of microaggressions, their impact individually and organizationally, and practical strategies for addressing them in the workplace.
