Accessibility and Accommodations

American Sign Language (ASL) & Communication Access Realtime Translation (CART) Offerings

  • General Sessions and Main Stage
    • ASL interpretation and CART services are available for in-person attendees.
    • CART services and Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) Captions (also known as closed captioning) are available for livestreamed sessions.
  • Concurrent and Other Sessions
    • Automated Speech Recognition (ASR) Captions (also known as closed captioning) are available for livestreamed sessions.
    • For in-person attendees, please request:
      • At least 5 business days before the start of the conference for CART requests.
      • At least 7 calendar days before the start of the conference for ASL interpretation.
    • If requested less than 5 business days, please contact SHRM Customer Experience for more information.

Accessible Seating

For each General Session or Concurrent Session, we reserve a minimum of 0.05% of the seats for accessible seating. For wheelchair spaces, there are marked floor decals with the wheelchair symbol. For accessible and companion seats, there are blue cloth seat covers marked “Reserved” on seats located throughout the room.

First Aid

There will be a roaming EMT in the venue. To access Services, visit Registration or the Accessibility & Accommodations Desk, or ask a SHRM staff member.

Food & Beverage including Dietary Restrictions

  • During your initial registration, information on dietary restrictions was collected. If you need to make any updates, please contact SHRM Customer Experience.
  • Full conference attendees receive food & beverages during conference hours as part of their registration.
    • Food & beverages are not provided to guest passes. To upgrade your registration to full conference to get food & beverage access, please see Attendee Services.

Gender Neutral Restrooms

  • Attendees can find gender neutral restrooms on both the first floor and second floor of the Savannah Convention Center.
  • We provide gender neutral restrooms both with and without urinals. Please look for signage for more details.
  • Contact your hotel directly if you need additional accessibility and accommodations during your hotel stay.

Wellness Room

  • There is a Wellness Room, a private space reserved for administering medications and lactation needs.
  • It is located in room 106 with draping for privacy, an electric power cord, and a shared refrigerator. We do not provide equipment and labels and are not liable for your personal property. Within the Wellness Room, although we strive to provide as much space as possible, there is a limited amount of space available and is based on first come, first served basis. Please be prepared to wait as usage can take up to 45-minutes to 1-hour. If you are staying at a nearby hotel, we also encourage you to utilize your hotel room.
  • For future requests, please make sure to complete the SHRM Accommodations & Accessibility form in advance for us to properly reserve enough space for the comfort of all attendees.

Prayer & Meditation Room

The Prayer & Meditation Room will be located on the first floor of the Savannah Convention Center across from the SHRMStore.

Professional Development Credits

By participating in INCLUSION 2023, you will earn 21.75 PDCs. Your PDCs are automatically uploaded to your SHRM certification portal.

If you do not see your PDCs 30 days postconference, upload them with the Activity ID provided in event communications or email recertification@shrm.org for assistance.

Scooter Rental

If you require a scooter rental, you can contact Scootaround at 1-888-441-7575 or scootaround.com/en and a customer representative will help you complete your booking and have it delivered to your hotel. We recommend completing your rental at least one week prior to when you will arrive as there may be limited quantities available. Costs vary based on equipment, coverage, and number of days.

Security & Badge Requirements

For the security and safety of attendees, guests, and staff, the INCLUSION 2023 conference badge must be worn at all times. Badges & lanyards can be picked up at Attendee Services located in the Savannah Convention Center’s Georgia International Gallery. Each individual badge needs to be picked up by the individual attendee and cannot be picked up by a representative from your organization.

  • If you have lost or misplaced your badge and/or lanyard, please see Attendee Services. Badges with errors on them will be reprinted for no cost. Lost badges will be reprinted for a $50 badge replacement fee.
  • For all sponsors, exhibitors and booth staff, special expo access badges & lanyards can be picked at Exhibitor Registration.
  • For all SHRM events, our conference badges feature solely SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP certifications. We thank you for your understanding.

Speakers have been asked to submit resources and if received, resources have been uploaded to the speaker’s session(s) and/or presentations.shrm.org. If the session is not listed, we may not have received anything from that speaker. Please note: Due to the sensitivity of some information, speakers may include content in their slide deck(s) that they cannot save or share for public consumption. Also, some speakers may not share slides until after the conference has concluded. If you still do not find any resources, please reach out to the speaker directly for more information.

  • Build your agenda and take session surveys.
  • Setup your profile and network with other attendees.
  • Find related resources, event info and FAQs.
  • Re-watch sessions for 30 days post-conference.

What to Wear

The weather in Savannah can be warm, while inside the meeting space you may want to bring a sweater or light jacket as the rooms are air-conditioned and could be chilly. Most importantly, we recommend wearing comfortable shoes!

Getting Around Savannah

FERRY RIDES

The free Belles Ferry system includes multiple modern, passenger-only ferryboats. These picturesque ferries take passengers from River Street in Historic Downtown Savannah to the Savannah Convention Center landing, seven days a week free of charge. The ride itself is about 3 minutes to get to the convention center. Ferries are scooter and wheelchair friendly.

SHUTTLES

SHRM will be providing shuttles to get attendees from official INCLUSION hotels across the river to the Savannah Convention Center. Plan your schedule ahead of time as the ride itself could take 30 minutes round trip. Shuttles are scooter and wheelchair friendly.

TAXIS & RIDESHARE APPS

You can find taxi services conveniently at the airport to get you to and from your hotel. Uber and Lyft are also both available in Savannah. Average ride time from housing block hotels to the convention center is about 15 minutes.

PARKING AT THE SAVANNAH CONVENTION CENTER

Attendees who plan to travel by vehicle to the Savannah Convention Center have the convenience of ample onsite parking within close proximity to the facility’s main entrances. Current parking fees are $5.00 per car per day. Prices are subject to change at the discretion of the Savannah Convention Center.
