The dynamics and effects of domestic violence can vary among cultural employee groups, yet most HR professionals are trained to respond to it through a traditionally White, North American lens. This presentation explores the differences often seen in abuse involving culturally diverse employees, factors that influence help-seeking behaviors, and personal biases that may alter a helper's intervention. Participants will learn strategies for supporting victims and develop a deeper understanding of how to serve diverse populations.
Learning Objectives:
- Develop a deeper understanding of how cultural background and beliefs play a role in the experiences of abused employees.
- Identify and overcome personal biases that may influence support for culturally diverse employee victims.
- Integrate victim-centered strategies for supporting culturally diverse employees impacted by domestic violence.
