Workplace Application:
This workshop will address best practices for recruiting and retaining talent in the health care industry.
The health care industry’s operations are suffering as it tries to balance staffing needs against an influx of millions of new patients, as a result of both the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and the aging population. Attracting and retaining top talent in health care will become even more important, as staffing shortages are predicted to get worse. In an industry as varied and dynamic as this, successful recruitment and retention strategies cannot follow a one-size-fits-all approach. Join SHRM and the Families and Work Institute’s (FWI’s) When Work Works (WWW) team for an interactive discussion of how to design effective talent management practices that thrive throughout the employment lifecycle across an array of jobs and skills in the health care sector. A new Guide to Workflex in Health Care will be provided at the workshop, which is based on the effective, flexible workplace model developed by the WWW partnership between FWI and SHRM. You will learn:
• How to create and continuously develop a culture that values the well-being of employees and how this benefits the bottom line.
• How to incorporate different workplace flexibility solutions into different job categories.
• How to create programs within your communities that teach potential employees the skills needed to create dynamic candidate pools for
current and future job needs.
