1.50 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Communication

Repeated Friday at 3:00 p.m.

Senior leaders are responsible for helping people understand what is going on and why it's beneficial. That means more context and less content. You must communicate the vision and inspire confidence. You must inspire and motivate. That's where storytelling comes in. This session will introduce an easy-to-use storytelling technology that will help frame your position with imagery and emotion, thereby enhancing your ability to gain buy-in to HR initiatives, changes and proposals.

You will learn how to:

  • Identify stories that make a point and leave a lasting and positive impression.
  • Develop stories using the Nine Steps of Story Structure.
  • Learn three subtle engagement techniques that trigger a deep emotional response.
  • Brand the main point of your story or presentation with a Phrase that Pays.
  • Discover how to match the story to the situation for greater effectiveness.
