1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: HR Expertise | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
You will leave this session with an understanding of the changes to U.S. immigration policy that have been enacted or are being considered by the Trump Administration and the 115th Congress and the impact these changes could have on your organization.

A top priority for the new Administration and Congress is protecting America’s borders and workers.  Your ability to hire or retain H-1B, OPT and L workers, DACA recipients and others may be at stake.  Scrutiny of employers is likely to increase along with more intense screening of foreign visitors seeking to enter the U.S. This session brings together experienced immigration experts for a candid discussion of what has already happened, what’s on the table, and what you should be doing to help your organizations through this uncertain time. This session will help you:

  • Gain an understanding of the major developments impacting your ability to access H-1B, OPT and other work visas.
  • Learn about efforts to secure the border through enhanced security screening of foreign nationals and worksite enforcement.
  • Prepare yourself for possible audits of your worksite.
  • Think strategically about how these changes might impact your business plans and how to communicate these challenges to managers and employees.
