Workplace Application:
You will learn what factors to consider in the adoption of telemedicine, onsite clinics and other plan options to avoid compliance traps.
Employers are adding cutting-edge options to their medical plans such as telemedicine and onsite clinics. They are also expanding other programs such as wellness, and voluntary options like EAPs, Critical Illness and Gap Insurance coverage. While these benefits all make the plan offering more robust, all of these options have their own twists on compliance. You should include these options in your plans but also need to be aware of the compliance traps that might arise if they are offered without considering the design options. You will learn:
- How ERISA, PPACA, the IRC, HIPAA, COBRA and other laws that apply to employer plans apply to these options.
- What compliance issues apply to such plans.
- How to structure plan options to avoid those compliance concerns.
