1.25 SHRM PDCs, 1.25 HR Credit | Competencies: Consultation, Critical Evaluation | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
This session will identify the legal pitfalls in attempting to control off-duty conduct and will provide solutions to address such conduct.

This session will look at employee behaviors both inside and outside of the workplace that decrease productivity and/or diminish the organization's reputation and brand. The nonstop use of smartphones, the recreational use of marijuana, the need to post every thought on Twitter and Facebook, the popularity of tattoos and body piercings, and dating the boss are just a few of the topics that will be addressed. The question is: What can you control? This session addresses what you often wish you could control. This session will cover:

·         Recent developments that may force you to reevaluate your existing dress codes and appearance policies.

·         How to draft effective policies on employees' use of personal tech devices, email, and social media.

·         Workplace romance and the many pitfalls that such relationships can cause down the road.
