This session will help you understand the rules for proper classification of exempt employees and independent contractors in light of recent case law and new technology. 

Everyday another business sector is being “Uberized,” or disrupted by new technology. Technology has stream-lined business, but have the legal standards for classifying workers kept up? This sesssion will help you spot the misclassified worker and implement creative strategies to reduce or avoid misclassification liability. You will learn:

·         How to apply the legal standards for classifying exempt employees and independent contractors in the workplace.

·         How and whether new technology and new economic models (such as the shared economy) have changed
          the legal standards for determining exempt and independent contractor status.

·         How to develop create strategies to avoid or reduce misclassification liability.

·         How to communicate with executive management on classification issues to reduce legal liability.
