This session addresses one aspect of DEI that is often forgotten: ageism. Beginning with photographs, we will discuss how we think and feel about ageism. Don't be fooled, ageism also impacts young professionals.  We will analyze the data, financial costs, coded language and bias that is embedded in language and in our actions. Finally, we will aim to leave the workshop by changing the negative misconceptions about aging with immediate actionable items for all. Come to this session to become an advocate against ageism!

Learning Objectives:

1. Learn the definition of ageism and the 3 laws of protection.

2. Discuss statistics and data points around ageism.

3. Analyze Coded Language and its hidden bias messages.

4. Recognize the prevalence of ageism, and develop strategies to combat ageism in their daily interactions and decision-making processes within the workforce.
