The illusion of inclusion happens when a company believes their messaging, standards and/or practices around issues of disability adequately and appropriately address disability when in reality, it marginalizes the issues further. Employing people with disabilities does not guarantee that you understand how to ensure success for them or for the company. It requires an understanding of, and commitment to the cross-functional issues, opportunities and best practices of this work.  Creating a disability-inclusive environment is complex. This session will help you understand, simplify and manage the complexity.

Learning Objectives:

As a result of attending this session, attendees will leave with an understanding of:

• Organizational Readiness for Disability Inclusion - What it is, why it is needed and how to go about getting it.
• Disability-related practices that marginalize when the intent is to include.
• Implicit Bias and Disability - What it looks like and its impact in the workplace.
