It's critical for employers to follow second chance hiring compliance. However, recent legislation has caused confusion for HR Professionals, with 71% citing Hiring and Retention as their biggest challenge. When asked what changes their companies have made to address this, 17.2% said they have eliminated or relaxed background check requirements. This important risk mitigation measure can be conducted in a way that does not exclude those with criminal convictions when best practices are followed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand 'Second Chance' hiring and the importance of conducting individualized assessments.
  • Hear how expunged, sealed or dismissed criminal records impact employers and screening vendors.
  • Discover the difference between Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) criminal conviction time reporting of arrests and convictions vs. some state laws.
  • Learn how variables such as the salary or position of the job affect how long adverse information can appear on background investigation reports.
  • Review why background investigations are an important risk mitigation measure that should be conducted in a way that does not exclude those with criminal convictions.
