Workplace Application:
Deaf people experience inclusion through reasonable accommodations, overcoming communication barriers, and ensuring visual accessibility and safety.
Many Deaf and Hard of Hearing people do not feel welcome in the American workplace, despite legislation to encourage employment, strong popular support for the use of Sign Language and a great deal of money spent providing accessible post-secondary education to America's Deaf and Hard of Hearing adults. This session will provide an in-depth look at discriminatory perspectives, best practices in the workplace and the unique culture of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. This session will help you:
- Ensure non-discriminatory interview and management practices.
- Discover reasonable accommodations and the interactive process.
- Learn best practices for workplace inclusion.
- Explore the diverse perspective of Deaf culture and the Deaf community and what they bring to the workforce.
