Suffolk
Tuesday 10/27/2015 10:15 AM - 11:30 AM   Add to calendar
1.25 SHRM PDCs, 1.25 HR Credit | Competencies: HR Expertise, Global & Cultural Effectiveness | Intended Audience: Senior-Level
Workplace Application:
You will leave this session with a stronger ability to deal with resistance to D&I and gain new insights into developing tactics to increase engagement of stakeholders.

Leading change in a complex organization is difficult by definition, but making the culture changes and other major system changes that are required to achieve an environment of inclusion is orders of magnitude tougher. One reason is the skill needed to comprehend and navigate the many contradictions and counterintuitive situations that D&I efforts present. For example, those who feel excluded in an organization typically focus on "access" while the dominant group business leaders are focused on "success." In this session, Hayward Bell will frame some of the dilemmas of D&I work and highlight approaches and strategies to navigate them. During this session you will:

  • Examine several principles that drive D&I leaders' thinking on how to approach diversity challenges and interventions.
  • Review Raytheon's D&I engagement model.
  • Gain practical examples of how these principles and Raytheon’s model can be employed at your organization.
