Salons B-D
Wednesday 10/28/2015 08:00 AM - 09:15 AM   Add to calendar
1.25 SHRM PDCs, 1.25 HR Credit | Competencies: Relationship Management, Global & Cultural Effectiveness | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
Leave with an understanding that while it may be impossible to deny the thoughts you have, it is not impossible to ensure that your actions reinforce your best values (honor, respectfulness, collegiality and inclusion) and not ones that stem from prejudice, bias or ignorance.

This session will provide the opportunity to explore your reactions to various diversities. Through small group discussions, you will learn the impact that labels put forth. You'll confront stereotyping and discuss methodologies to ensure potential preconceptions do not negatively affect your interactions with colleagues. You'll also discuss strategies you can personally undertake to insure respectfulness, collegiality and honor in the workplace. In this session, you will:

  • Engage in a "higher risk" activity to cultivate your thought process and then discuss inclusion focusing on "emotional" and "intellectual" dimensions by discussing "culture" in that context.
  • Obtain five tangible ways employees might go about engagin colleagues that involve inclusion and respect.
