Getting to and Around Mountain View

Airport

San Francisco International Airport (SFO) is 25 miles north of The Ameswell Hotel and downtown Mountain View. It is about a 30-minute drive down the 101 from the airport to the lobby of The Ameswell.

San Jose Mineta International Airport (SJC) is the closest airport to Mountain View. Located just 10 miles from the conference hotel, travel time to and from the hotel is about 15 minutes.

Attendees may also opt to travel through Oakland International Airport (OAK), located about 40 minutes from The AI + HI Project official conference hotel. For reference, OAK is approximately 25 minutes outside of downtown San Francisco.

Transportation

Upon your arrival to California, taxis and ride shares are available from both major airports and in the downtown Mountain View area.

If you’re looking to explore the Silicon Valley, the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) provides sustainable and accessible bus and light rail transportation options in the area. Attendees can use their “Real Time Trip Planner” to explore and map out their transportation plans.

Another way to explore the downtown area or catch a ride from nearby airports to the Mountain View area is the Caltrain or BART systems. Learn more about Caltrain, a commuter train option that runs from SFO and SJC airports and through Silicon Valley by exploring their website and getting familiar with How to Ride. Attendees can map out their transportation plan from any of the major airports in the area to Mountain View using BART’s Trip Planner.

SHRM will provide transportation to and from the Microsoft Campus and the official conference hotel, The Ameswell. More information on SHRM provided transportation will be available closer to the event.

The Ameswell
The Ameswell features a large garage on property, near the entrance to the hotel. The parking fee is $20 per day.

Microsoft Silicon Valley Campus
Visitors are encouraged to park in the Visitor Parking lot at 1045 La Avenida Street, Mountain View, CA 94043. Near the check-in of the Visitor Lobby, the Visitor Parking lot is located off Macon St. and La Avenida St. and is identifiable by the “Visitor Parking” sign at the front entrance. Visitor parking is complimentary at Microsoft’s campus.

Attire

The AI + HI Project’s official attire is smart casual. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the style that makes them the most comfortable. Your time at Microsoft will be spent networking, learning, sharing ideas, and moving around with fellow attendees – be prepared for long but impactful days. Attendees will have time before networking receptions to freshen up after the day, but the dress code for these events will not change – feel free to stay in the outfit you’ve been sporting all day or swap it out for your next smart casual option.

Weather in Mountain View at this time of year tends to be sunny and in the mid to high 60s during the day. However, there’s always a chance of rain and lower temperatures once the sun goes down are a guarantee. Make sure to bring your layers!
