Anne Pachciarek helps companies establish and operate their employee benefit plans, such as medical plans, 401(k) plans, pension plans and executive compensation programs.

With more than 20 years of experience, Anne works with public companies and closely held businesses to find solutions to a wide range of ERISA compliance, fiduciary responsibility and plan administration problems. She advises on welfare plans, pension and profit sharing plans, cafeteria plans and deferred compensation programs, as well as on the handling of benefit plans in mergers and acquisitions.

Anne has been a member of the Hiring Committee and the Chair of the summer program for the Chicago office.

Alexander Alonso, PhD, SHRM-SCP is the Society for Human Resource Management's (SHRM's) Chief Data & Insights Officer leading operations for SHRM's Certified Professional and Senior Certified Professional certifications, research functions, and the SHRM Knowledge Advisor service. He is responsible for all research activities, including the development of the SHRM Competency Model and SHRM credentials.

During his career, he has worked with numerous subject matter experts worldwide with the aim of identifying performance standards, developing competency models, designing organizational assessments, and conducting job analyses. He was also responsible for working on contract task orders involving the development of measurement tools for content areas such as job knowledge (like teacher knowledge of instructional processes) and organizational climates (like organizational climate forecasting in military health care).

Dr. Alonso received his doctorate in Industrial-Organizational Psychology from Florida International University in 2003. His works have been recognized for their contribution to real-world issues. They include being recognized by the Society for Industrial Organizational Psychology (Division 14 of the APA; SIOP) with the 2007 M. Scott Myers Award for Applied Research in the Workplace for the development of the federal standard for medical team training, TeamSTEPPS; being awarded a 2009 Presidential Citation for Innovative Practice by the American Psychological Association for supporting the development of competency model for team triage in emergency medicine; and receiving the 2013 SIOP Distinguished Early Career Contributions for Practice Award.

Throughout his career, he has published works in peer-reviewed journals such as Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice, Journal of Applied Psychology, International Journal of Selection and Assessment, People and Strategy, Personality and Individual Differences, Quality and Safety in Health Care, and Human Resources Management Review. He has also authored several chapters on community-based change initiatives in workforce readiness, as well as co-authoring Defining HR Success: A Guide to the SHRM Competency Model in Practice.

Dr. Alonso also served as a columnist analyzing major trends in the workforce for The Industrial Psychologist and HR Magazine. In addition, he has served on several professional society boards including the SIOP and the Personnel Testing Council of Metropolitan Washington.

Joseph Cabral is the Chief Human Resources Officer for Cleveland Clinic.  The organization has an annual operating budget of more than $7 billion and a workforce comprised of more than 42,000 employees.  The Cleveland Clinic health system is a global health organization with its latest addition in Abu Dhabi. Patients come for treatment from every state and from more than 130 countries. U.S.News & World Report consistently names Cleveland Clinic as one of the nation’s best hospitals.

With more than 19 years of experience developing and executing strategies that enhance cultural and organizational change, Mr. Cabral has spent more than a decade driving business objectives, vision and values forward in all aspects of Talent Management and Human Resources in order to achieve the organization’s goals.  

Prior to going to Cleveland Clinic, Mr. Cabral served as the CHRO for North Shore LIJ Health System, which received the SHRM/SIOP Award.   Previously he held other key HR leadership roles at New York Presbyterian Hospital and Children’s Hospital in Boston, MA, and has been cited by Time Magazine, Business Week, The Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Forbes and other industry publications for his expertise in Human Resources “Best Practices”.  He holds an M.S. in Quality Systems Management, has taught as an adjunct professor at the University of Massachusetts and has also served as a Baldrige Examiner as well as a trustee for one of the largest Taft-Hartley Pension Plans in the country.  Between 2010-2014, Mr. Cabral was appointed by the Governor of New York to serve on the Regional Economic Development Council.  Additionally, in 2014 he received the CHRO of the Year Award from HRO Today.

Stephen Tucker is the Director of Industry Partnerships with Partners for a Competitive Workforce in Cincinnati, Ohio. Mr. Tucker leads Industry Partnerships in Construction and Advanced Manufacturing engaging key stakeholders including employers, educators, community based organizations and the workforce investment system to address the skills gap of the local labor pool and to provide businesses with a qualified workforce. His main objectives are aligning education with industry, developing industry career pathways and utilizing industry intelligence to develop talent supply chains. 

Mr. Tucker is leading a multi generation design project to uncover ways to increase the number of women participating in advanced manufacturing careers while simultaneously engaging their children in STEM activities. He is also a member of the national Dream It Do It manufacturing marketing campaign and serves on numerous regional and local boards and committees.  

Mr. Tucker has a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Indiana Wesleyan University and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Criminal Justice from Wilberforce University. He is a 2008 graduate of the Urban League’s African American Leadership Development Program, the 2009 recipient of the State of Ohio Martin Luther King Jr. Award for Economic Opportunity, a 2010 YMCA Black & Latino Achiever, and a graduate of National Urban League’s Emerging Leaders Program. Jeff Shuman is Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources Officer for Quest Diagnostics.  He is responsible for all human resources activities across the company.

Prior to joining Quest Diagnostics in 2012, Mr. Shuman served as Senior Vice President, Chief Human Resources and Administrative Officer with Harris Corporation. 

Before joining Harris in August 2005, he had been Vice President of Human Resources and Administration for Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology business, and he had been Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Litton Information Systems Group when it was acquired by Northrop Grumman in 2001.  Previously, he was Vice President of Human Resources for AlliedSignal’s technical service business, and prior to that had a 14-year career in Operations, General Management and Human Resources with Avon products.

Mr. Shuman earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Citadel.  Following graduation, he served as a Medical Service Corps officer in the U.S. Army.  He has completed executive development programs in business and human resources at the University of Michigan, Harvard Business School, Center for Creative Leadership, University of Virginia’s Darden School of Business, University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton Business School, and Cornell University.  He also participated in a U.S. Executive Exchange Program with the People’s Republic of China.

Mr. Shuman has served as chairman of the Greater Baltimore-Washington, DC, chapter of INROADS, a national organization that develops and places talented minority youth in business and industry, and he has supported the Private Sector Council in key initiatives with the Department of Education and the Department of Homeland Security.  He also has been a regular guest on “Your Career Partners”, a Washington, DC-based radio talk show, and has been a guest speaker at the HR Summit and the Information Technology Association of America (ITAA).

Mr. Shuman is an active member of the Human Resources Policy Association, and serves on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement of New Jersey.  He is a former board member of Wuesthoff Health Systems, Florida Chamber of Commerce Enterprise Florida, University of Florida Foundation, and National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).  He received a Stevie ® during the American Business Awards in 2007 for “Best Human Resources Executive” and was the 2011 recipient of the “HR Executive of the Year”.
