Sessions
Pregnant women in California are just about the most protected class of employees, and employers are typically poorly prepared to handle the "red tape" of administering pregnancy leaves and accommodation requests. This session will review the basic requirements for pregnancy disability leaves (PDL) leaves in California and delve into the new regulations that went into effect in 2012 that are still perplexing and challenging California employers. You will learn: - What to do when you learn an employee is pregnant. - How far you need to go to provide accommodation. - How to document pregnancy leaves and accommodations. - The important differences between pregnancy leave and maternity leave and paternity leave vs. maternity leave. - What to do when they return to work or when they don't return and when FMLA and ADA come into play.
