Frequently, employees (and sometimes even HR professionals) rely on lore rather than the law in concluding what their "rights" are in the workplace. This session will examine the most common employment law myths, half-truths, legends, and stories-and how you can deal with these misunderstandings in the workplace. Beachboard will cover topics such as: - The issues surrounding at-will employment, including the viability of wrongful termination claims and whether an employee is really in a protected category. - Your obligations to employees in terms of wages, benefits, and termination. - The limit to which you should be concerned with employees' off-duty conduct, including their use of social media.
