Workplace Application:
This session will share best practices and lessons learned from one organization's journey to serve their community.
As HR professionals, we are in search of that higher purpose to serve which gives meaning to what we do each day. We found this higher purpose in one of our corporate social responsibility projects: The Greater Lexington Park Health Enterprise Zone (HEZ) Project. In January of 2013, Maryland identified only six HEZs for the purpose of expanding access to care to the underserved population. This session will focus on our hospital's HEZ project from the perspective of the HR professional and describe the project from its inception to its current state, share HR challenges such as cultural competencies and recruitment of providers, describe successes and opportunities in health outcomes and provide best practice next steps with the HEZ.
