Plenary Session
The View from the EEOC: Navigating Workplace Law and Enforcement Trends
In-Person Wednesday 11/20/2024 11:45 AM - 12:35 PM   Add to calendar

Featuring Commissioners from the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), this session offers an exclusive insider perspective on the latest developments in workplace law and enforcement trends. With the recent publication of the first harassment guidance in over 20 years, the session will address the traditional obligation to maintain harassment-free workplaces, with a focus on out-of-office behaviors on social media. The current commission’s composition allows for better long-term planning. Additionally, the session will explore major themes in EEO laws, including the different standards for “reasonable accommodations” under Title VII (religious accommodations), the Americans with Disabilities Act (disability accommodations), and the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (pregnancy-related accommodations).

Learning Outcomes:

  • Understand key differences and similarities between EEO laws and how compliance may change according to fact-specific inquiries.

  • Gain a comprehensive overview of recent and upcoming regulatory changes from the EEOC and how they impact workplace policies and practices.

  • Explore emerging issues and trends in workplace law, including balance inclusion efforts with religious and free speech rights.

  • Develop actionable strategies to ensure your organization's policies and practices align with the latest EEOC guidelines and foster a more equitable and inclusive workplace.
