1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: HR Expertise, Critical Evaluation | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
You will learn the employment and benefits aspects of effectively managing a leave of absence in often-arising but more-complex situations.

The ADA and FMLA continue to confound employers seeking to comply with the often confusing and complex requirements of both laws. This session will focus on both the employment and benefits aspects that emerge when an employee is on leave under the ADA, FMLA or both. You will learn about:

  • The key and overlapping benefits and employment aspects of the FMLA, ADA and company policy leave.
  • The requirements of the FMLA and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for benefits continuation or termination during leaves of absence, including under the ACA look back measurement method.
  • An effective process for assessing the employment and benefits requirements during leave.
