1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Global & Cultural Effectiveness | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
This session will discuss the intervention strategies that can help manage workplace-related fear in your organization.

We are living in a time of stress. Events of the past few years, including shootings of men and women by the police; international and domestic events of terror; and blatant discrimination against individuals based on their religion, national origin, gender identity and other characteristics have left our collective culture reeling. We can no longer pretend that these issues do not impact our employees and our organizational community. Yet, many leaders don't know quite what to do. This session will identify the psychology and neurobiology of fear in order to give you a better understanding of how fear impacts you and your fellow employees. It will also look at the impact fear has on the workplace and, most importantly, what leaders can do about it. In this session, you will:

  • Develop a clear sense of the kinds of things that are influencing your employees.
  • Learn about the science behind fear so that you have a better idea of how it works and how it is impacting both you and your employees.
  • Be exposed to intervention strategies that can help manage workplace fear.
