Creating Mindful Inclusion: Building Organizations That Mitigate Bias
Convention Center: 151
Monday 06/20/2016 02:00 PM - 03:15 PM   Add to calendar
1.25 SHRM PDCs, 1.25 HR Credit | Competencies: Relationship Management, Communication, Global & Cultural Effectiveness | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
Learn about how the ordinary functioning of the mind creates bias, and translate this learning into organizational impact and workplace efficiency.

Unconscious bias provides insight into how we think and how that thinking shapes our workplace behavior. These insights are often misunderstood and misused in a way that actually perpetuates some of the challenges organizations face. This session will reveal new research that requires you to rethink some of the strategies we have become comfortable with in order to allow for greater collaboration and truly transform the way we work with organizational diversity, cultural competency, dimensions of power, and inclusion. This session will answer the following questions:

·         What? – How does the ordinary functioning of the mind create bias?

·         So what?  – How does this play out in organizations? How does it affect me? How does it affect my organization?

·         Now what? – What can I do about it? What can WE do about it? What WILL we do about it?
