Convention Center 151
Wednesday 06/22/2016 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM   Add to calendar
1.25 SHRM PDCs, 1.25 HR Credit | Competencies: Consultation, Critical Evaluation | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
This session will help you understand worker classifications and PPACA mandates relationship, analysis standards and techniques for voluntary corrections and managing audits.

Since 2000, the DOL and Treasury have steadily increased audit activity related to identification and penalization for misclassification of workers. Federal and state agencies are primed with a new regulatory mandate related to worker misclassification. Identifying and correcting classification errors in a timely manner protects you from audit activities and preserves company liquidity. This session will help you understand:

  • Regulatory and organizational rationales for appropriate worker classification and how misclassification impacts implementation of PPACA mandates.
  • Specific techniques for voluntary corrections prior to an agency audit, handling a federal or state level audit, and for managing parallel audits and subsequently-initiated state level audits.
