This session will review the administration of outcomes-based wellness programs and the application of new non-discrimination requirements under HIPAA.

The Department of Health and Human Services has issued comprehensive regulations governing the administration of health outcomes programs associated with employer-sponsored wellness programs. Positioned as new non-discrimination requirements under HIPAA, these new rules outline the appropriate utilization of wellness exceptions for outcomes-based wellness programs. This session will introduce the various types of wellness programs and will help you:

·         Identify the types of wellness programs available to use with employer-sponsored welfare plans.

·         Understand connection between health outcomes and wellness programs.

·         Understand identification and standards for treatment of similarly situated individuals.

·         Implement and administer a compliant health outcomes program under the new non-discrimination standards.

·         Identify and understand the use of the reasonable alternative standard (“RAS”).

·         Identify common missteps in health outcomes implementation and administration through specific client practice examples.
