Starla Sampaco is a Filipino-American TV news anchor, communication consultant, and event emcee who’s passionate about helping women and people of color succeed in the workplace. Most days, you can watch her anchoring the news on KCTS 9 (Seattle's PBS news channel). Prior to joining KCTS 9, Starla hosted and produced shows on technology and state legislation.
Outside of journalism, she founded Career Survival Guide after noticing a serious problem throughout her career: Women and POC face unique barriers to professional success, and many of us feel unprepared to navigate these barriers upon joining the workforce.
Career Survival Guide now offers career workshops, free content on YouTube and Instagram, and 1:1 coaching. Through Starla’s services and content, women and POC learn strategies to advocate for themselves at work, grow their professional visibility, and communicate with confidence.
Since 2020, she has conducted dozens of research interviews with women and POC to better understand what they need to feel supported in the workplace. Drawing from this research, Starla creates content that addresses her audience's pain points. She also works with HR professionals and companies by sharing key themes from her research and strategies for retaining women and POC.
Starla’s clients include AT&T, Microsoft, the Society for Human Resource Management, New York Film Academy, the University of Washington, and organizations that serve Asian and Pacific Islander communities.
