Dr. Baran is a Senior Partner and Digital Solutions Lead at inQUEST Consulting, a global diversity and inclusion (DEI) firm. He draws on his own research in cultural anthropology and cognitive psychology to inform his current D&I work– his speaking engagements, writings, consulting, leadership development, workshop facilitation, and digital products. He customizes sustainable change management plans that integrate the best of in-person and scalable digital platforms. His work and his digital products have been covered in the New York Times, BBC, Washington Post, CNN, Boston Globe, NPR, and Slate.

In addition to his inQUEST work, Dr. Baran has taught courses at Harvard University and the University of Michigan. He has worked as Associate Director at the FrameWorks Institute and Principal Researcher at the American Institutes of Research.

Dr. Baran is the coauthor of the recently launched book Subtle Acts of Exclusion: How to Understand, Identify, and Stop Microaggressions. He received his B.A. from Emory University and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.
