Michele Fantt Harris is the Executive Vice President, Human Resources for the National Cooperative Bank in Washington, DC. A seasoned HR professional, Michele has worked in human resources in education, nonprofit, healthcare, and the insurance industries. Her books, What’s Next in Human Resources (Greyden Press 2015) and Rethinking Human Resources (Red Letter Publishing 2015) are groundbreaking publications for human resources professionals and entrepreneurs.
Active in many human resources organizations, she is a past president of the Human Resources Association of the National Capital Area and the former Black Human Resources Network. A member of the Society for Human Resource Management since 1985, she served on the Society for Human Resource Management national board from 1996 through 2001 and is a past chair of the SHRM Foundation Board of Directors.
Michele completed the Results Systems Coaching program and is an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) through the International Coach Federation and a Certified Career Management Coach (CCMC) through The Academies, Inc. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she served on the board of the Delta Research and Educational Foundation from 2008–2014.
She received her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Maryland, a master of administrative science from Johns Hopkins University, and her juris doctorate from the University Of Baltimore School of Law. A certified Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and Global Professional in Human Resources (GPHR), Michele teaches at Prince Georges Community College and Catholic University. Michele is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and currently resides with her husband in the District of Columbia.

Beth McFarland, CAE is the director of programs for the SHRM Foundation, an affiliate of SHRM. She is responsible for all Foundation products and programs including publications, research grants, scholarships, special events and thought leadership initiatives. She is currently leading a project with the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) to identify and analyze future global trends likely to impact the workplace in the next 5-10 years. In addition, Beth serves as staff liaison to the Foundation Board Research and Thought Leadership Committee. Prior to joining the SHRM Foundation in 2001, she managed SHRM’s student membership program for eight years. Beth holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of Virginia and the professional designation of Certified Association Executive (CAE). She recently completed an executive certificate program in nonprofit management from Georgetown University.

He has authored dozens of reports, eBooks, and other resources, maintains a blog that has touched the lives of more than one million business leaders since its inception, and hosts “We’re Only Human,” a podcast that examines the intersection of talent and technology in the workplace.
Previously an HR executive for an Inc. 500-ranked global technology startup, he currently operates Lighthouse Research & Advisory, a human capital research and advisory services firm. He works with HR, talent, and learning leaders across the globe to solve their most pressing business challenges with a research-based perspective tempered by practical, hands-on experience.
Most importantly, he has four children, a wonderful wife of ten years, and a preference for running in a variety of outlandish races for fun.
