The False Promise of Equality: Systemic Bias and the New Focus on Equity
Tuesday 10/20/2020 02:30 PM - 03:30 PM   Add to calendar
Intended Audience: Experienced
Workplace Application:
Learn the key components of how to move from an equality-based approach to an equity-based approach.

As our organizations have been distracted by a focus on equality for generations, we have—often unknowingly—established systems of inequity, built on biases that grant systemic advantage to some, but not all. This session will detail the difference between an equality-based approach and an equity-based approach. Learn how individual and structural bias have created systems of advantage and disadvantage, how to uncover those in an organization and how to apply a consistent framework to create equity.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand individual and structural bias that create systemic advantage and disadvantage.

  • Learn the difference between an equality-based approach and an equity-based approach.

  • Explore how to apply an equity framework to policies, practices, decisions and programs.
