For organizations that are gearing up to perform internal organizational DEI work, the process can become overwhelming. How do you know you'll make a difference and where do you begin? Effective DEI work starts with a comprehensive needs assessment along with a strategy that ties to the overall business outcomes and drives organizational success. This session provides participants with the knowledge, tools and process to build their own sustainable, organizationally-sound, transformational strategy from the ground up.
We begin with the components of a foundational needs assessment: Surveys, focus groups, and organizational data. From there we examine the benefits of a transformational versus transactional approach, an overview of the 13 areas of DEI best practice, and an understanding of the
stages of organizational DEI competence. Along with case-studies from across industries, participants will be given tools and templates to produce their own best-practice strategy.
Learning Objectives:
- Explain the core components of an effective DEI strategy.
- Describe a transformational vs a transactional strategic focus.
- Describe the 13 areas of DEI best practice.
- Practice application of core strategy components with guided templates.
