Concurrent Session
Ending Pay Inequity Before They Start: Recruiters as Equity Advocates
Red Rock 6-7
In-Person and Virtual Tuesday 04/12/2022 03:00 PM - 04:00 PM   Add to calendar
Competencies: Business (Behavioral), Interpersonal (Behavioral), Leadership (Behavioral)
Workplace Application:
Attendees will learn how to make recruiters their first line of defense against pay inequities.

A recruiter posted a tweet that went viral. In the tweet, the recruiter appeared to brag about giving a woman candidate $50,000.00 less than the allotted salary for the position. $50,000.00 over the course of the woman’s career could result in a huge financial deficit for the woman and an even larger liability for the company. All of which could have been prevented by a recruiter trained to be an equity advocate. The common myth is that equity and salary negotiations cannot reside in the same conversation. This is not true, and this session will explain how.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identifying equity issues in recruiting.
  • Tools to teach recruiters how to identify potential liabilities related to equity.
  • Techniques to encourage negotiation while ensuring equity.
  • Understand how recruiters can serve on the frontline in the battle for equity in the workplace.
