Learn about IER's Protecting U.S. Workers Initiative and other IER updates

Join Alberto Ruisanchez, Chief of the Department of Justice’s Immigrant and Employee Rights Section (IER), as he discusses the Immigration and Nationality Act’s anti-discrimination provision and IER’s Protecting U.S. Workers Initiative, incorporating recent case examples and best practices for avoiding unlawful immigration-related discrimination.  Fragomen Partner Patrick Shen, formerly Special Counsel for Immigration-Related Unfair Employment Practices at the Department of Justice, will share ideas on how to avoid liability generally under the INA’s anti-discrimination provision, specifically what employers need to know when placing a job vacancy announcement, verifying employment eligibility, and managing the services from a third-party vendor.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn best practices to avoid discrimination and common pitfalls that can lead an employer to violate the INA’s anti-discrimination provision.
  • Become familiar with public education resources available through IER’s website and IER’s Employer and Worker Hotlines.
