We all know that organizations are more likely to be successful if the leadership team is diverse. But federal, state and local laws that are designed to prevent unlawful discrimination also come into play when your organization strives to increase diversity. For example, gender bias knows no gender so giving a “plus” to a candidate because of her gender carries enormous legal risk with it. So, as employers, we need to focus not only on the goal of increasing diversity but also on how we get there.  This presentation will focus on costly mistakes that employers have made in their diversity efforts and safer alternatives to attract diversity and not plaintiffs’ lawyers.
