Repeated from Tuesday at 10:15 a.m.

The Harvard Business Review reported that more and more companies are requiring managers to coach their subordinates. Employee surveys show that direct reports want coaching. Effective coaching correlates with increased engagement, retention and productivity. The term "coaching" has been widely misused causing confusion about how to use this tremendous leadership style. As an HR executive, your mastery of this skill can make a world of difference in your organization. You will learn to:

  • Distinguish the difference between managing and coaching and when to use which style.
  • “Be" the coach - adopt certain beliefs and behaviors that will allow you to be recognized as a coaching leader.
  • Use a simple process to identify your audience and communicate with a higher level of influence.
  • Develop the skill of helping people discover solutions vs. giving advice.
  • Hone your skills on: being present; active listening; powerful inquiry; and much more.
