1.50 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Leadership & Navigation, Consultation, Business Acumen | Intended Audience: Senior-Level
Workplace Application:
Identify opportunities to move employee resource groups to next-level performance, incorporating workplace and marketplace priorities.

In an increasingly polarized society and workplace, D&I is more-important than ever to attract and retain the best talent and enable full contribution. However, the effectiveness of many D&I initiatives has fallen short, and employee resource groups (ERGs), once considered a core component, are being called into question: Are they still relevant? Do they enhance inclusion? Do they drive business improvements? In this session you will hear best practices, research and proven practices that encourage sponsorship and long-term traction and build the employer brand. By applying an organizational effectiveness lens and aligning with business priorities, ERGs leapfrog from affinity groups to strategic partners with an organizational mission. You will:

  • Assess factors that promote D&I sustainability.
  • Examine the progression of ERGs.
  • Consider ERG workplace and marketplace best-practice examples and identify high-impact opportunities within your organization.
  • Assess your own organization’s progress and next steps.
