Workplace Application:
This session will offer you a better understanding of the role that emotional intelligence skills play in the workplace and provide practical strategies for applying those skills.

This session will start by setting out a clear and helpful definition of emotional intelligence—what it is and what it is not. It then builds to explore the use of emotional intelligence for talent managers, in dealings both within your team and with your clients. You will learn practical strategies for using emotional intelligence in hiring, resourcing, professional development and team interaction decisions. The session will also discuss how to test and select for emotional intelligence. By the end of the session, you will:

·         Gain a clearer understanding of emotional intelligence and its relevance to your work.

·         Be able to identify some of your blind spots (unanticipated consequences of your actions) and
triggers (situations that set them off, leading to unproductive behavior).

·         Learn some strategies for testing the emotional intelligence of others.

·         Apply some of the discussed strategies to one of your current workplace challenges.

·         Reflect on how to improve on a past workplace interaction that was suboptimal.
