1.25 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Leadership & Navigation, Communication | Intended Audience: Mid-Level
Workplace Application:
This session will help you to improve your ability to communicate in key areas vital to your effectiveness.

Under stress and pressure, we tend to fall back on aggressive or passive-aggressive forms of communication which will derail our goal to succeed at the task at hand. Excellent communication skills are vital to your success as a leader and represent potentially the biggest stumbling block that you will encounter. Knowing how to communicate under pressure will help keep your organization moving in a forward direction. This session will provide tools for listening effectively, outline common styles of communication, and provide ways you can acknowledge and manage emotions during conflicts and confrontations. You will also have the opportunity to role-play to reinforce the concepts. As a result of attending this session, you will be able to:

·         Engage in listening and communicating more effectively.

·         Mediate disagreements between other employees.

·         Practice having assertive conversations.

·         Handle difficult people more effectively.
