1.50 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Leadership & Navigation
Workplace Application:
You will learn how to develop a professional advisory board to help shorten your leadership learning curve, navigate challenges, nurture relationships and build your career.

Repeated Wednesday at 12:45 p.m.

Leadership success is not a solitary pursuit. Similar to the way savvy organizations configure networks to maximize their potential and support sustainability, as a leader you will need others to support, guide and collaborate with you on your journey. You cannot afford to leave your personal advisory board (PAB) development to chance or happenstance. The most successful leaders are intentional about surrounding themselves with capable, proven individuals who stretch their abilities, challenge them to grow and tell them the truth, even when they are not quite ready to receive it. Beyond mentors, sounding boards and cheerleaders, your PAB is an invaluable resource for your personal and professional development. While it sounds like a simple, easy approach, many leaders do not take advantage of this powerful resource. This session will help you distinguish yourself from the crowd by understanding:

  • Why you should develop a PAB.
  • How to determine your readiness for developing a PAB.
  • Who should be on your PAB and what their various roles should be.
  • The seven most common mistakes leaders make when leveraging their PAB.
  • The top 10 ways to leverage your PAB.
