1.00 SHRM PDCs | Competencies: Critical Evaluation, HR Expertise | Intended Audience: Senior-Level
Workplace Application:
Learn how to use brain research to reduce bias and minimize threats in talent and performance discussions and decision-making in the workplace.

Human decision-making is deeply biased. Given how critical making sound decisions is, it is imperative that leaders identify and minimize bias whenever possible. The reality is that many biases are completely unconscious to us and affect nearly every decision we make. From the individual to entire teams, biased decision-making can scale to adversely impact entire organizational systems and culture.

Learning Objectives:

  • Learn to better understand the nature of bias and the underlying patterns biases share.
  • Gain models you can use to navigate around these limitations in order to make sharper decisions.
  • Experience a simulation that exposes bias in decision-making, discuss how it impacts organizations at all levels and learn specific strategies for mitigation.
