Workplace Application:
Learn how to lay the foundation for increased understanding of racial differences and how to implement inclusion practices.

It is no secret that anxiety about race has continued to rise across America. A brutal presidential contest that tested racial attitudes coupled with a white majority becoming the new minority has all the makings to create racial divide and conflict. While many would point to one man or one party as stoking enmity, it is important to understand how each person owns responsibility for creating the environment we now reside in. When we say “we believe in equality for everyone and every group,” what does this mean? In this session, we will discuss what is at the core of America’s racial divide. In a climate where shutting down conversations on differences and retreating to comfortable corners has become the norm, we will instead boldly move forward to address the issues of today. The dialogue will be authentic. The urgency is now. The focus is on you. In this session, you will explore:

  • America by the numbers: what changed, when and a forecast of the future.
  • The 2016 election results: what we now know that everyone should have known.
  • The concept of race and how it continues to shape our cultural norms, beliefs and values.
  • Comfortably encouraging more dialogue instead of less.
