The Value of Diversity to Our Culture

Little did Rita Moreno know how her life would change, when as a five-year-old immigrant to New York City, as she was confronted with such overwhelming diversity.  Everything was different from what she had known on her island home of Puerto Rico; the climate, the food and where she lived. To those she eventually acclimated. But nothing prepared her for the reaction from people. Suddenly she was "different" and for the rest of her youth and most of her career was forced to navigate the then uncharted waters of diversity. Moreno will share her powerful story of how she survived and thrived.
