SHRM is pleased to present five SHRM Regional Student Conferences & Case Competition each spring. Each two-day conference is packed with keynote speakers, educational sessions, career development opportunities, networking and a Regional Case Competition, where teams of graduate and undergraduate students compete separately to win two grand prizes: $2,500 team prize and complimentary team registration to the 2014 Annual Conference & Exposition in Orlando

VOLUNTEER POSITIONS AVAILABLE

Career Development Mentoring Volunteer
 
Career Development Volunteers will spend one-on-one mentoring time with registered student conference attendees. During a 15-minute session, Career Development Volunteers may review and provide guidance on student resumes, conduct mock interviews, answer career development questions and/or provide insight into the HR profession from a first-hand perspective. . Appointments will be scheduled in 15-minute increments by the student conference attendees. Certification preferred, but not required. Re-certification credits may be available.
 
Team Preparation Supervisor
 
Team Preparation Supervisors will be assigned to a specific Case Competition team.  The Team Preparation Supervisor will stay with the team during the four-hour preparation period to ensure that the team is adhering to the rules of the competition; i.e. not conferring with others outside the team for the preparation of their presentation – no assistance from advisor or others in the room, no email, text messages, cell phone communications, etc.  Prior to being assigned to a team, the Team Preparation Supervisor will attend a brief training session to review the competition rules.  Certification not required to serve in this role.
 
Oral Presentation Judges
 
Oral Presentation Judges will be assigned as part of a panel of three judges.  The Oral Presentation Judge will be assigned to a presentation room, where the teams will come and deliver their 15-minute presentations.  Prior to the oral presentations, the Oral Presentation Judge will attend a brief training session, read the case, get acquainted with the material, read through and understand the rubric and what it is that they should be listening for in the student presentation.  
The Oral Presentation Judge will judge the students’ oral presentations based on a rubric that is provided.  The Oral Presentation Judge is not to provide tips to the students before, during, or after the presentation.  Once the final round is complete and the winner has been announced, the Oral Presentation Judge may provide tips and feedback to the students.  Oral Presentation Judges must be certified (SPHR/PHR/GPHR/SPHR-CA/PHR-CA).  Re-certification credits available.
 
Written Presentation Judges
 
Written Presentation Judges will be assigned as part of a panel of three judges.  The Written Presentation Judge will be assigned to a judging room where they will receive the teams’ written executive summaries.  Prior to receiving the written executive summaries, the Written Presentation Judge will attend a brief training session, read the case, get acquainted with the material, read through and understand the rubric and what it is that they should be looking for in the students’ presentation.  
The Written Presentation Judge will judge the students’ two-page executive written summary based on the rubric that is provided.  The Written Presentation Judge is not to provide tips to the students before, during, or after the presentation.  Once the final round is complete and the winner has been announced, the Written Presentation Judge may provide tips and feedback to the students.  Written Presentation Judges must be certified (SPHR/PHR/GPHR/SPHR-CA/PHR-CA).  Re-certification credits available.
